MISSION

Our mission at John Locke University is to offer these people the means to reach the formal qualifications they need to progress in life thanks to distance learning programs that do not bind these frequently mature students and busy professionals
to a school desk. We also highly consider the candidates’ professional experiences. They may have nevertheless acquired an extensive education through life experiences thus becoming professionals in their respective fields. What limits the growth potential of these individuals is the lack of formal educational credentials with considerable consequences on their personal image.

Although John Locke University's Distance Learning Degree Programs, are different then programs available in traditional educational institutions, we are convinced of their value and acceptance worldwide. Non-traditional programs are important because they recognize experience made in the real world instead of classroom study.

John Locke University is accredited by private accreditation agencies which are not regulated or approved by the US Department of Education. John Locke University is not accredited by an United States Secretary of Education recognized accrediting agency.


Accreditation is a voluntary process and does not guarantee quality education. It only means that an institution has agreed conform to the rules established by that particular accrediting agency, rules that not always represent the best interest for the students. John Locke University Distance Learning Programs has been designed to best fit the adult professionals’ needs. We have chosen private and independent accreditation that, while not relating to any Governmental Branch, still requires the highest standards of quality. We have chosen to maintain independence and freedom in developing academic programs, as we believe they fit our students’ skills and competencies. We specialize in distance adult education, in addition to crediting professional experience in the field of their competences. This may be a determining factor for those individuals interested in pursuing certain disciplines requiring State licensing, (such as law, teaching, or medicine). It is recommended that you consider the importance of National Accreditation for your specific field or profession and make your decision accordingly.
